Sounds like you are already infected. Re-boot in Safe Mode with Networking. Achieved by pressing F8 continually while booting. Now download again.

Are you on dial up? That is the only reason for taking so long. If dialup, yes that would be normal. If possible get to a high speed connection to do the download.
sounds like u have a virus. try gettin mcafee. its amazing. i dont have it but my friend, brother, and grandpa do.
