Is it wise to run two different ANTI VIRUS on my system?

Window's XP, Ive been having Norton for quite some time and been happy with it. Recently, Ive ran to some problem with virus, ad ware,....so Ive added AVAST ANTI VIRUS. I'm not too sure if Ive done wise thing. PLEASE inform me if it is OK to have two AV or what ever you guys suggest. THANKS for all your inputs in advance.

ADD: every time i re-scan after Norton is done, with Windows live onecare safty scanner, it shows more infected area than Norton did, what you guys think about that? does NOR sucks!!!!!

2 scanners active at the same time will interfere with each other, and may miss a virus, or may also give false positives. Settle on one. If you want a free one, use AntiVir, and get rid of Norton. If you have subscription time left on Norton, use it and it only until the subscription is up, then delete it totally, and install AntiVir. Also get Spybot Search and Destroy, and a Zone Alarm firewall.

no no really.you could overwork your computer and then it will probably fry it or it will cause it more virus's than before.so i suggest not to.
LOL!! EXACTLY the same here!!! Get rid of Norton, that's what I did anyway, and no problem ever again. LiveOne scan is really great!!! Avast, Live OneCare scan and XP firewall is all you need.
I would say no because i think that the programs could cancel each other out then they would be useless and a waste of money.
Yes Norton is crap. Please get somthing else.
