What's a good free anti virus system to go with a sony vaio?

I had Norton but it has expired and as my vaio is a new model some anti virus systems will not work with it. I gave Avast a go but after downloading it, it said it will not work with my model.

I have a CR13L and I'm a bit unlucky when it comes to getting a virus or 10. If anyone knows of an anti virus programe that will fit well with my laptop please send me a link and any info you think I may need. Thanks^.^

AVG Antivirus, this is the first antivirus software that I have used, because it's free. But it's not that powerful compared to other programs available. It detects virus, but its virus database is not that vast. It cannot detect other trojans, worms, and other viruses that can be detected by other antivirus software.

go here, avg is a good, reliable, also free anti-virus, updates r free and i use avg. i don't like mcafee or norton, they slow down the computer.
Have you tried AVG for Free?
AVG has a free download and updates. Pretty good if you don't want to dish out more $$ for McAfee (my preferred anti virus - I'm a Norton hater!).
