can please anyone tell me which is the best antivirus and malware scanner as i am daily using net and downloading stuff and others so i want a good security for my pc

i am having avast 4.7 home professional updated database till march 2008

but i think that it doesnt working good as i am scanning my pc i get the virus in my pc

i have enough ram enough space in hdd

and my pc is having good specifications

so i wanna know that which antivirus and spyware is best for blocking trojan attacks and others like slowing down of pc by viruses so suggest a good one please

help me out

The best combination I would suggest is to get a good anti-virus + a good spyware + a good firewall ... my openion is Avast 4.7 home + SpybotSearshAndDestroy 1.5 + ZoneAlarm (7.something ... try searching ... don't know the latest edition ... doing without it) ... all freeeeeeeeee.

With Avast, the "on-access protection" must be high, spybot-search and destroy must "immunize" every now and then and look what is in/out with ZoneAlarm. Scedule boot time scan through Avast - Main Menu - to remove stubborn viruses ... one of the best features not generally available in other anti-viruses

Safer browsing if possible is recommended.

Keep looking at Registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Security Center\AntivirusOverride ... it must be "0".
