Computer is laggy need help?

yeah usually my brother fixes stuff like this...

the last time he reinst. windows he put avast! as an antivirus program... but it expired.. and it costs money to buy it and continue to use it. anyway I installed AVG and i did a full computer scan and it found 5 viruses.. and i thoughtt it took care of them.. but the computer is still laggy! it freezes for 1 minute.

what antivirus should I get.. how do I fix this? :/

sorry for being a noob but I'm not very good when it comes to fixing computers...

Viruses might not be the best place to learn about computers. If you have already done the most commonly recommended thing - scanning with AVG until it comes up clean, it might be time for a visit to the shop.

well i was about to suggest AVG 8.0 but of course you already have that. I don't think it's viruses that are causing the problem, it could be that your memory is very low and you may a new hard drive. Also, RAM (random access memory) could also be full up with web pages etc..

Check your memory until you get too worked up that it is a virus.
try spybot s%26d it's a manual update and run but has protection also spyware blaster both of which are free your avg is fine too
