My laptop is choppy please help?

i had a virus before that made my computer "choppy" as in the laptop itself would be choppy. anything i do whether it's playing musice, video, typing on this right now, run a program, it would be "choppy" stop about every 2 secs, these stops synchoronizing with the blinking lights beside the battery light.

i downloaded avast anti-virus and finally got rid of the virus. it seemed to have somehow permanately damaged my laptop or somethign so i formatted my laptop

and everything was perfectly fine

until i dont know what i did wrong

but now i have the problem again.

my music played perfectly fine, watched youtube videos perfectly fine without chopping

until i tried listening to online radio ..i listen to www.102jamz.com the online radio there...but they changed their radio online broadcasting program and sound quality wasn't as good so i turned it off

and i played my music, and it was choppy

why is this happening?
