Computer Monitor Help?

Here's what happened. I was on my computer, trying to IM people, when suddenly my screen flickered 3 times, and then the 4th time it automatically went blank, with the LED light still blinking, and the tower was still on and fully functioning. I was forced to restart the whole system. I restarted it again, and the same thing happened. Now, this is the 4th time I'm on this right now, and so far, no screen BLANKS occured, and of coarse that doesn't mean it's not going 2 happen again. I did a virus scan with Avast! Home Edition and spyware scan with Spyware Terminator, and everything was fine.

What should I do??

BTW-I use a Dell monitor, and I did NOT punch the monitor.

Did the system restart itself? If so, it could have been updating upgrades for the system to make it run smoother. The same thing has happened to me before, but it also depends on WHERE you IM. Some websites can be nothing but a virus. My advice, don't reply or open pop ups, or anything that is unidentifyed. If you do, and you catch a virus , the only thing you can do to help it is to reinstall EVERTHING. It may be a pain, but it may fix your computer to were you can use it again. Stay safe :)
