Help virus!!!!?

it started when i put my memory stick on my computer and accidentally push a file named ( `.exe ) i thought it was nothing because nothing has changed, but when i restart my pc my start menu has gone, but the task bar is there and all the icons. only the start menu. i try presing ctrl alt del and see the application running ( `.exe ) so i run msconfig and disabled it but when i restart nothing has changed and still on the process list. and worst it copies it self to my 3 partitions. if someone knows the answer how to removed this please let me know. ( itried scanning with AVG, AVAST and antivir but no spyware or malware detected )

First you should scan your computer with an online anti-virus scanner. BitDefender and TrendMicro are two of the best that will allow you to clean or remove the virus.

If this doesn't work scan with your A/V in Safe Mode (tap F8 as the computer boots up and choose to boot to safe mode). Ensure you only have 1 anti-virus installed as having more than that can cause serious conflicts and actually leave you less protected. Avira is the best of the three you mentioned.

Ideally you should run a virus removal program in Safe Mode (without networking) and reboot and repeat the scan and reboot until there is a cycle where no virus is detected.

The idea behind the Safe Mode is that the operating system would only load your essential programs and drivers to the memory and hence there is a 鈥渉igh鈥?chance that the virus-infected file is on the drive but not loaded into memory. This would enable the AV to clean it easily and the next reboot/scan would detect nothing. There could still be a small possibility that one of the drivers or programs that are loaded by the OS in the Safe Mode is infected. That鈥檚 why you need to keep rebooting and rescanning to make sure you鈥檝e found them all.
