Problem with the "read only" option of folders?

hey,

i have been facing this problem with my pc since last week. the check box of "read only" option of all the folders on my hard drive remains selected all the time. whenever i manually clear the check box, it again gets selected after i click "ok". i tried many anti- virus programs with their recent updates but nothig helped to solve this problem. i tried following anti- viruses: kaspersky, norton, quick heal, mcafee, nod 32, avast, AVG. can any1 suggest a solution or know how to tackle the problem???

Are you hitting apply and ok? Whenever you change these settings they have to be applied first.
