I was working on Excel and I saved it, then closed it. Not long after I closed it, 4 of these little pop-up things came on screen. I didn't close them, because I wanted to know what they were. I opened up Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del), and the programs running were the following:-
- Notification Wnd for RNAdmin
- UPnP Notification monitor
- motMpbtn
- MPWnd - Hooker
I think UPnP means Universal Plug and Play, but that's about it.
I hope they don't have anything to do with a virus, spyware or even hacking. We have Avast AntiVirus installed and Windows firewall on so I don't think it's due to a lack of security. Also, one of the windows was quite big (about 1/2 the screen but in the center) but had no name at the top and was totally blank. This is going to drive me crazy if I don't find out what it is.
Please be nice and tell me what it is :]
Alex.
What the hell are these programs?!?!?!!!?antivirus
The FIRST thing to do is DISABLE System Restore.
If enabled, this allows malware to hide in the computer and re-install itself.
To disable it, RIGHT-click on "My Computer." Select "Properties" then under the 'System Restore' tab, check 'Turn off system restore' IF not already checked.
The next most helpful things that would help you are to use ONLINE scanners from websites to remove any malware on your PC.
